SceneStudio FAQs
Does SceneStudio have a recurring or one time fee?
SceneStudio is purchased as a one time license fee. There is optional software maintenance available on a yearly basis that provides software updates.
What is the cost of a client license?
Client licenses are free.
How many channels of content does a license support?
SceneStudio provides one channel of content from a media player.
How many displays can SceneStudio power?
The number of displays supported is only limited by the video distribution equipment. SceneStudio outputs one channel of content and each of the displays would show the same content at the same time within one physical location.
Can one client PC control multiple media players?
Yes, when you log into SceneStudio you are able to select which media player you’d like to control. Scenes can also be transferred from one media player to another on the local network.
I have SceneStudio running in two different physical locations. How do I share content?
SceneStudio allows you to export scenes from one media player and then import them into another one.
Do I have to use a SceneStudio media player?
No, any PC meeting the minimum requirements is fine. The advantage of a SceneStudio-certified media player is that it comes with the application pre-loaded along with the various codec packages and third party plug-ins.
What can I do if I don’t have time to create content?
If you don’t have the time or expertise to develop content contact us. We can develop the content for you or refer you to one of our Design Partners.
Does SceneStudio use templates?
SceneStudio offers the flexibility of allowing you to develop content regions anywhere you’d like on the output display in a matter of seconds. Once these regions are created you have the option of using them to create “pages” of different content by using the copy feature. We refer to this as a Dynamic Template and it provides the means to develop a scene in the minimum amount of time.
Does SceneStudio support RSS feeds?
Yes, using third party RSS aggregators you can display RSS feeds. SceneStudio also supports AccuWeather sports, news and weather feeds on a subscription basis.
I have a text message I’d like to update each day. How easy is it to do?
It’s very easy! All you need to do is open a Microsoft Word document, make your changes and then save them and close the document. The next time SceneStudio tries to playback the text the changes are displayed.
How many content regions are supported?
You can playback a virtually unlimited number of content regions at the same time and the number of regions is really limited by your design requirements. The only content type we don’t recommend using in multiple regions at the same time is scrolling text because it taxes the CPU.
When playing back live TV can I change the channel?
Yes. By using a standard cable box receiver you have the freedom of changing the channel using a remote control on demand.
I’d like to playback content based on the day of the week. How is this accommodated?
To playback content by a specific day of the week start by grouping scenes into a playlist. Then schedule the playlist for the first day you want to start playing it back. You can then copy the playlist schedule to the same day in future weeks using the recurrence feature. You can even take a full day’s playlist schedule and copy it to other days.
Why are there two different SceneStudio applications?
SceneStudio Editor allows you to create scenes, playlists, playlist schedules and to control playback. From a client PC only SceneStudio Editor can be operated. SceneStudio Playback serves the sole function of playing back scheduled content and it allows users to launch playback from the media player without having to open SceneStudio Editor, meaning no other applications are open in the background.
What is the maximum resolution supported by SceneStudio?
There is no limitation in SceneStudio and it will support any resolution that can be delivered from a video adaptor.
Can I use SceneStudio with a display in portrait mode?
SceneStudio supports displays in portrait mode but you need to make sure the video adaptor in the media player and the output display both support it as well.
Does SceneStudio work without a network or Internet connection?
Yes, SceneStudio can be operated stand alone.
